THE ROUTE (Considerations)

These routes are flexible and participants can plan for a relaxed start by taking more time to travel through Europe on the outward and inward journeys rather than the two days travel allowed with organisation vehicles at the beginning and end of the suggested ADVENTURE. If you are really short of time try a low cost airline direct to Malaga, and join the vehicle group on the way. Airport pickups are not normally a problem for Group Travellers.

Morocco Schedule

Suggested first night Tanger

Day l Tarifa/Algeciras - Tanger/Cueta (Fast Ferry)

Fes / Midelt (5/3* Hotel (1))

Travel from Tangier gateway to Africa along the Atlantic coast to sample your first night in the centuries old Imperial city Fes to explore the medina, markets and other ancient historic monuments or simply get an early start for the spectacular atlas crossing.

Day 2 Fes/Midelt – Tinerhir (4* Hotel (1))

Travel through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas to Midelt gateway to the High Atlas. Travel through the High Atlas to the Todra gorge on the edge of the Sahara Desert.

Day 3/4 Tinerhir – Erfoud (4* Hotel (2))

Travel over the bleak sun drenched plateau to the south and on through the desert palmeries and spectacular valleys to Erfoud. Rise early the next day for a spectacular sunrise at Erg Chebbi and a lazy day by the pool or drive in the desert (bring your shovel).

Day 5 – Zagora (4* Hotel (1))

Travel back to Zagora, once an important stop for caravans travelling further south into the Sahara to Timbukto. Catch up on the suntan or bring your shovel.

Day 6/7/8 Zagora – Mhamid Chegaga (Bivouac (3))

Sample desert life – Visit ancient libraries and travel to an overnight bivouac near Chegaga near Iriki a dried up lake bed and Jebel Bani on your camel (definitely need a shovel).

Day 9 Mhamid – Marrakech (5* Hotel (1))

Return to the modern beast of burden and travel the picturesque Draa valley. Traverse the Anti Atlas to Marrakech via the magnificent Tizi-n-Test pass, visit the superb markets for that little something (replacement shovel perhaps) and then the evening in the fabulous square.

Day 10 Marrakech - Tanger/Cueta - Tarifa/Algeciras (Fast Ferry))
